An illegal shooting on Department of Agriculture land has been condemned by police.
A pair of grouse were shot at Druidale last month, an act chairman of the Forestry Division, MHK Brenda Cannell, described as 'disgusting'.
Witnesses saw four individuals with spaniels shoot a pair of red grouse and later return to a muddy coloured Landrover on Druidale road.
The game birds are found in small numbers in the Island and the department’s working with sporting tenants to protect them across its 20,000 acre estate.
A voluntary ban on shooting grouse on the estate has been in force for some time and anyone caught in possession of a firearm on DAFF land without permission will be prosecuted.
If you have any information about the incident, you’re asked to contact the department on 801263 or police officers Mark Kerruish or Ian Scott on 842208.
