A southern primary school will be closed on Friday because of the outbreak of a stomach bug.

More than 70 pupils and nearly half the staff at Rushen Primary School in Port St Mary have been affected with the Norovirus, which causes sickness and diarrhoea.

Public Health Nurse Pam Kermode says it's a highly contagious condition (audio file attached):

There'll be a further update on the situation regarding Rushen Primary School on Mandate on Friday morning.
