Ramsey go goal crazy; Colby win away

by isleofman.com 15th September 2008
There were contrasting fortunes for the newly promoted clubs on Saturday.

Colby gained an impressive 2-1 win at Old Boys, who had been hoping to move to the top of the Sure Mobile Premier League.

Goals from Chris McKenna and Mark Barron secured the points with Callum Stewart scoring for Old Boys.

However, even their victory was overshadowed as Ramsey demolished Michael 11-2 at Ballacloan.

In an incredible result, the newly promoted westerners led twice through Jamie Moffitt and Andy Berry before the Ramsey rout began.

Steven Cleator led the way with a hat-trick, Ashley Webster and Sam Critchlow grabbed two apiece and James Sayle, Rob Callister, Jonathan Leece and Harry Weatherall notched the others.

Elsewhere, Peel were far too strong for Gymns, winning 4-0 at Tromode courtesy of Callum Gallagher (two), Marc Kelly and Johnny Myers goals, while Adam Cregeen was the hero with a double as Rushen sealed an important 2-0 win at home to Laxey.

St Mary’s were pushed hard but continued their winning run with a 2-1 success at Corinthians.

Frank Jones and Martin Reilly were on target for the Saints with Steve Glover giving the home side a 1-0 half-time lead before he was dismissed in the second half.

Two attacking-minded sides shared six goals at Garey Mooar.

Union Mills and Ayre United shared the spoils with Richard Cannell, Danny McMahon and Mickey Collister the Millers’ marksmen and Martin Torr, Davey Morgan and Neil Brown the Ayre scorers.
