The Isle of Man's budding Steven Spielbergs have taken part in the Young Film Maker of Mann competition.

Ben Harris was the overall winner with a drama based on a true story about an eight year-old Ugandan boy, captured by rebels and forced to become a child soldier.

The other category winners who impressed the judges were Kyle Withington and Juan Shimmin, and Rory Dorling and Christopher Gore.

The competition, now in its fifth year, was open to Island residents under the age of 23 and also included a short film contest which was won by John Craine, with a moving film about Roy Vincent, a man living with the phenomenon of hearing voices.

The other winners were Glenn Whorrall for ‘Leon’, a spoof animation produced for the Isle of Man’s ‘Save Our Water’ Campaign. Glenn also won two further categories with ‘Space Mann’ in the comedy category and ‘Wrong Directions’ in the music video category.
