Better news for Champ

by isleofman.com 17th September 2008
A behavioural expert is to put Champ the pit bull terrier through his paces, to see whether he can stay in the Isle of Man.

The animal was due to be put down yesterday, because it's not legal to keep the breed here.

However, his owner Sarah Kneen lodged a Petition of Doleance at the 11th hour which has given him some more time.

Fundraising efforts are now under way to bring over a top expert to ascertain exactly what breed Champ is.

Meanwhile, there has been an offer of sanctuary from an animal shelter in Ireland, where pit bulls are allowed, if it's decided he can't stay in the Isle of Man.

Champ's assessment is going to cost in the region of ?1,500 but Sarah says if it means she can keep her pet, it will be worth every penny.
