Children's services blueprint unveiled

by isleofman.com 25th September 2008
An initial blueprint for the future of children’s services has been unveiled.

It sets out the framework for how the Government and voluntary agencies will work together to ensure children and young people attain the five priority outcomes set out in the Chief Minister’s Strategy for Children and Young People: staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and prospering.

Subject to legislation – it will lead to the Education Minister becoming the Minister for Education and Children and will also see the appointment of a Children’s Commissioner.

In the Spring next year, a Children's Plan is to be published.

Minister Anne Craine says a team effort is required.
