The funeral of Manxman John Moore will be held today (Friday).

The 73 year-old passed away on Sunday at the Island's Hospice.

He lived in Santon all his life and is described by friends as a 'true gentleman' who loved the Island.

Mr Moore was involved in a number of organisations and charities, including the Royal British Legion.

He also worked tirelessly for the preservation of war memorials and helped form a committee to ensure their future.

His long-term friend Hector Duff says John was an extremely kind individual (audio file attached):

The funeral will take place at 2pm at Kirk Malew this afternoon (Friday).
