Minister promotes shipping register

by isleofman.com 2nd October 2008
The Isle of Man's growing shipping register is helping to diversify the economy.

That's the view of Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney, following news six more superyachts are to be Manx registered.

Mr Cretney (pictured), who has just come back from a major yacht show in Monaco, says it's really important to promote both the aircraft and shipping registers: "It's very important to have a diversified economy. All of us who stand for election say that is an important thing and this is putting it into practice.

"Since I took over this role in December 2006, I've had the chance to put that idea into practice and the Isle of Man ship and aircraft registers have been very important factors in that."
