Vagas Ladies prepare for home league debut

by isleofman.com 2nd October 2008
Vagabonds Ladies are in league action on home soil for the first time on Saturday when they host Rossendale Ladies in North West Division Two.

Rossendale got their season off to a flying start with a 48-10 win against Northwich, a side Vagabonds have struggled to beat in the past.

They have a reputation for being a well organised side which play fast, expansive rugby and will provide a stern test for the local side.

Vagas will be without the services of full-back Hanna King and prop Taz Schofield.

Cat Beswick takes over at 15 with Sarah Quayle coming back in the side on the wing and another returnee, Gemma Green, adding punch to the back row.

The only other anticipated change is the return of Rachel Beckley, who'll start on the bench but is sure to make an impact as the game progresses.

The game has special significance for Vagas players Rachel Purnell and Anne-Marie Rivers, who've played since the team's formation 10 years ago and have been key figures in realising the dream of league status.

They too will be out to make an impact in the game, which kicks off a 1.30pm.
