Peel stay top; champs go goal crazy!

by isleofman.com 6th October 2008
Peel stayed top with a convincing 4-0 home win over Old Boys on Saturday.

Goals from Kevin Megson (two, one pen), Kerron Christian and Juan Killip sealed the points and kept the westerners clear at the summit of the Sure Mobile Premier League.

There was no doubting the star of the day.

Island international Callum Morrissey hit SIX as champions St George’s went goal crazy against Gymns.

They recorded a 9-4 home win, thrashing the Tromode side with the other goals coming from Chris Bass junior (two) and Darren Hudgeon, who was later sent-off.

Doubles from Ciaran McNulty and Mark Connor secured some respectability for Gymns.

Second half goals from Ted Pepper and Paul Jones saw Rushen continue their encouraging form with a 2-0 home win over spirited Ramsey – a week after their victory over the champions.

Justin Hawley and Lee Cowley scored the goals as Laxey overcame a battling Corinthians 2-0 at Glen Road, while Michael are celebrating what could be a key win at home to Union Mills.

Goals from Jon Holland, Kieron Quinn and Kevin Pulman secured a 3-2 victory.

Sam Caine and Steven Quine scored for the Millers in the second half but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.
