Retail study public meeting

A study into retail in the Isle of Man will be the subject of a public meeting at Ramsey Town Hall on Monday evening.

A UK retail consultancy firm was commissioned by the government to conduct the study, which is described as 'the most comprehensive of its kind' into the Island’s sector.

The meeting's been arranged by Ramsey Commissioners and the Department of Trade and Industry, and hopefully Ramsey Chamber of Commerce, will be represented.

However, a row has already been sparked after Shoprite criticised the report for involving Black Grace Cowley, which acts for supermarket rival Tesco.

The department’s denied claims the survey’s been compromised as a result but commissioner Leonard Singer’s (pictured) questioned its use without the input of Shoprite (audio file attached):
