An Inquest into the death of a 73 year-old Douglas woman has found she died of problems following bowel surgery.
Doris Quayle suffered complications shortly after an operation to remove a tumor, and passed away two days later.
The hearing was told her body became septic, resulting in a cardiac arrest on September 29 last year.
Mrs Quayle was born on the Island, but spent most of her life in England, before retiring and moving back to Douglas seven months before her death.
The surgeon who performed the operation said a leak in stitches reconnecting the bowel after surgery had caused the problem. The most likely explanation was they they were too tight.
Coroner Michael Moyle said staff at Noble's should have noticed the problems sooner, as a number of nurses reported Mrs Quayle had worryingly low blood pressure.
However, blame couldn't be attributed to one person, particularly as several doctors had failed to make full clinical notes.
