A man who rang his ex-girlfriend’s new partner from the prison to threaten him will serve more time behind bars.
23 year-old Andrew Paul Cooney of Willaston Crescent, Douglas admitted threatening to cause death or serious injury.
The Court of General Gaol heard he made the call to his former girlfriend and her partner in July 2007, while he was swerving a sentence for drugs offences.
Cooney had learned about the relationship and threatened the couple.
Defence advocate Aalish Hannan said Cooney accepted making threat but could not have carried it out because he was in prison.
She said it was made in the heat of the moment and no complaint had been made to police until months afterwards.
Jailing Cooney for eight months, Deemster Doyle told him his emotions had got the better of him and he needed to control his anger.
