Peel were pushed all the way by newly promoted Colby before maintaining their five point lead at the summit of the Sure Mobile Premier League.

A second half own goal was all that separated the sides at Glen Road but it could prove vital at the end of the season.

Reigning champions St George’s won convincingly at Corinthians to remain in second place, with two games in hand on the leaders.

The 4-1 triumph was secured courtesy of goals from Robin Bates, skipper Sean Quaye, Connor Doyle and Darren Hudgeon.

Steven Glover netted the Corinthians goal.

And St Mary’s are also hot on their heels after an impressive 7-1 victory at Ayre United.

The Saints went on the rampage with doubles from Martin Reilly and Liam Cowin with Marc Priestnal, Frank Jones and Steven Priestnal, from the penalty spot, grabbing the others.

Ayre’s consolation was scored by Paul Kennish.
