Foxdale surprise Pulrose

by isleofman.com 13th October 2008
The promotion race in CFS Division Two took another twist on Saturday.

As St John’s and Castletown both won, third placed Pulrose were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Foxdale.

A Mark Wolfenden hat-trick and a Mike Pearce double ensured St John's were 5-0 home winners over Northern Athletic, while Castletown demolished the Police 11-0 at Groves Road.

There was no doubting the star of the show for Town as Alex Crawley hit four.

He was joined on the scoresheet by Jack Charmer (two), Ashley Sanbsury, Mike Quine, Brett Alcotte, Mark Notman and Tony Duggan – his first for the club since returning from Peel.

Across the park, Pulrose were frustrated as Foxdale secured the result of the day.

Talented youngster Aaron Costain was their scorer with Paul Cairney netting for Pulrose.

Marown moved up to fourth after seeing off the resurgent Ramsey Youth Centre 4-0 at Crosby - Luke Wosser, Paul Bratty (two) and Andy Cain the scorers.

Douglas Royal hit bottom club Ronaldsway for six to stay sixth in the table.

Royal ran out 6-2 winners against the battling Rockets, helped by goals from Chris Kirk and Sean Valentine penalties.

Onchan and Malew shared eight goals at Onchan Stadium.

Phil Cain (two), Mike Spencer and Rob Byrne were the home side’s marksmen with Juan Kinvig and Craig Marsh both getting doubles for Malew.
