Chernobyl children can't visit Island

Chernobyl Children cannot spend Christmas on the Isle of Man this year after Belarussian authorities banned all children from leaving the country.

Nine children were due to come to the Island to stay with Manx families over the festive period - some of whom will have spent Christmas with the same family several times before.

Some children practically become a member of the family they stay with, which has led to both the children and families on the Island being very disappointed and upset by the decision.

Norman Rivers from Friends of Chernobyl Children described what happened to make Belarus crack down on the visits (audio file attached):
