by isleofman.com 13th October 2008
Help to tackle rising fuel costs is on the way, subject to Tynwald approval this month.

Government’s unveiled a package of new support to help Island residents, particularly those on low and fixed incomes.

The measures include a ?150 increase in the winter bonus payment, as well as a new one-off payment of the same amount.

There’ll also be free insulation for the home of needy pensioners and other vulnerable groups, cutting fuel bills by up to ?300 a year.

And half a million pounds is being added to the energy conservation scheme, which offers grants of up to 75 per cent on the cost of insulation.
