Education chief issues holiday warning

The number of Island children not going to school will rise when a new policy preventing pupils from having term-time holidays is introduced.

That’s according to the head of the National Association of Head Teachers.

From next September, the Department of Education will only recommend term holidays in 'exceptional circumstances', amid growing concern about the number of youngsters missing lessons and the effect it has on their education.

However, while Association General secretary Mick Brookes (pictured) says the principal of the move is correct, he has some serious concerns (audio file attached):
