The long awaited Kerbside Collection Scheme is being launched today (Tuesday).

The launch will be held at Douglas Ballacottier Headquarters at the Isle of Man Business Park in Cooil Road.

Representatives from the Department of Local Government and the Environment will be there including Minister John Shimmin.

Matt Kennaugh has the details (audio file attached):

The kerbside recycling scheme will be available in Douglas, Braddan and Onchan.

Three recycling vehicles will collect newspapers, magazines, cans, aerosols, foil, glass and plastic bottles from residents on a fortnightly basis.

The project will be launched at 11am by Dudley Butt, MLC, who's a member of the Department of Local Government and the Environment with responsibility for waste management.

People who live in the areas are due to receive two 55 litre recycling boxes with information over the next two weeks.
