Firework inspections for retailers

All retailers will undergo inspections before they can sell fireworks in a bid to minimise the risks associated with them.

The visits will be carried out by the Office of Fair Trading, Isle of Man Constabulary, the Fire and Rescue Service and the Department of Home Affairs, as part of this year's Fireworks Safety Campaign.

Further inspections will be carried out once fireworks have gone on sale to ensure retailers are storing and selling them responsibly.

Community Safety Officer with the Fire Service, Carl Kinvig, offers some safety tips to anyone thinking of buying fireworks this year (audio file attached):
