Wilks Reinstated at Yorkshire Rally Winner

by isleofman.com 16th October 2008
Guy Wilks has been reinstated as the winner of the last round of the British Rally Championship.

A protest against the Mitsubishi driver was laucnhed shortly after he crossed the finish line, and after a technical inspection, Wilks was excluded from the final classification.

It was title rival Mark Higgins team - Atlas TEG Sport - who lodged the complaint against Guy Wilks.

However, Britsh Rally Championship organisers have thrown out the case on a technicality.
A row after the Ulster Rally earlier in the season led to TEG pulling out of the Team Championship.

Because of this situation, organisers say TEG were not in a position to lodge a protest about the result in Yorkshire as they do not hold "a valid Entrants Licence".

This latest twist in the saga of the 2008 Bristish Rally Championship means the battle between Wilks and Higgins for the title goes to the last two rounds in Wales in December.
