New service for visually impaired

by isleofman.com 20th October 2008
A new service to help those who are visually impaired in the Isle of Man will be launched on Monday.

The service will involve a special low vision assessment with equipment being issued such as talking clocks, magnifiers and computer software designed for partially sighted people.

It's a joint project between the Department of Health, the Manx Blind Welfare Society, the Royal National Institute for the Blind and Gillian Sheard Optometrists.

Julie Lee is a senior rehabilitation officer for the RNIB and says it will really help people (audio file attached):

The launch will be at Corrin Court in Onchan at 1pm on Monday.
