Valkyrs win big game; Bacchas hit 18 to go top!

by isleofman.com 20th October 2008
Valkyrs won the match of the day in Manx hockey on Saturday.

Second half goals from Greg Miller and Chris Caldwell secured a 2-0 win over Falcons as the exciting start to the Mixed Premier League continued.

And it has new leaders as a Dave Kneale-inspired Bacchas A went on the demolition with an 18-0 rout against Phoenix, who played the entire match with just nine players.

Kneale hit nine for the reigning champions.

Andy Bridson grabbed three of his own, there were doubles from Gareth Craig and James Wright and one each from Donna Harrison and Kelly Shimmin.

In the other top-flight match, Ollie Webster was the star with a treble and James Atchison netted the other as Ramsey A overcame the spirited challenge of Bacchas B in a seven-goal thriller.

Danny Shuttleworth (two) and Sean Corlett were their scorers.
