Treasury Minister Allan Bell is asking members of Tynwald to hold back questions about Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander.
A number of members are due to ask about the collapsed bank during tomorrow's sitting, but Liberal Vannin Party leader Peter Karran has announced he will withdraw a raft of queries about the affair.
He says now is a time for national unity, not political squabbling about who is to blame.
Mr Bell (pictured) agrees, and says Treasury doesn’t need the extra work of finding answers to questions while it is trying to resolve the situation. He told Manx Radio:
"All this extra work, and especially the idea of a public inquiry at this point, is highly irresponsible and is going to deflect people away from the urgent work that is being carried out at the moment to try and find out a satisfactory solution, which I believe is what the depositors are looking for.
"It's not heads on plates they are looking for, it's actually getting their money back and getting their lives back in order again, and that is Treasury's, and my own, top priority."
North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson says his questions will remain on the paper for tomorrow's sitting.
He says it is important for the government to answer some members’ queries in the open.
