Invitation to count the stars

Stargazers in the Isle of Man are being encouraged to look to the skies over the next couple of weeks as part of an international project.

The "Great worldwide star count" runs until November 3.

Results will be put onto a website, including data on the "limiting magnitude", or how clear the skies are, in different areas.

Chairman of the Isle of Man Astronomical Society Howard Parkin (pictured) explains what people are being asked to do (audio file attached):
