Committee tackles TT traffic problems

It's hoped commuting in the Isle of Man during motor sports events will be easier next year.

The TT Festival and Motor Arrangements Group has been working on ways of dealing with problems for rush hour traffic, caused by delays to racing.

During this year's Manx Grand Prix parts of Douglas came to a standstill one evening after racing was rescheduled because of the weather.

The group, made up of officers from three government departments, has been together for a number of months, and is working on a policy for next year.

Tourism Minister Martyn Quayle says it's vital there is a contingency plan to avoid such a situation from happening again:
