Dog talks to be held

Douglas MHKs and councillors are to join forces in a bid to resolve ill-feeling over dog by-laws in the capital.

The Corporation recently introduced regulations banning dogs from most public areas, including its parks, glens and squares.

But many residents believe the local authority has gone too far, and lobbied East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell to support their case.

Following a debate in Tynwald today the talks, proposed by West Douglas member John Shimmin, were approved.

He accepted there was a problem, but said Tynwald shouldn't spend any more time discussing it (audio file attached):
