Teenager stages show this evening

by isleofman.com 28th October 2008
The Gaiety Theatre in Douglas will be the venue for a variety show with a difference this evening.

Sixteen year-old Chelsea Gowland from Onchan has put together a programme with "something for everyone" to raise money for a trip to Paris next month.

She's travelling to the French capital to take part in a week-long talent competition, and thought a self-produced family show - in this case called "Raunch" - would be a novel alternative to seeking commercial sponsorship.

Chelsea and her friend Sharon will make a number of costume changes during the evening, as they pay tribute to a variety of well known singers.

She hasn't decided on her programme for Paris, but wanted to be involved in every part of tonight's production (audio file attached):

Chelsea is one of three local youngsters who made it through the regional round of the Actors, Models and Talent Competition, held in the Island recently.

Also heading to Paris for auditions next month will be ten year-old Shay Marsden, from Foxdale and 17 year-old Lauren Simpson, from Kirk Michael.
