The Chairman of the Office of Fair Trading says it's his public duty to investigate why fuel prices are so high in the Isle of Man.
Bill Henderson announced yesterday in the House of Keys that there would be a full inquiry into the issue.
There is concern over why prices at the pumps in the Island haven't been reflecting the falling cost of fuel in the United Kingdom.
Mr Henderson says it will be a thorough investigation:
"We can examine the situation and bring experts in to assist us, because the Office of Fair Trading is only small and this requires specialist input as well.
"If we discover anything we can report that to the Council of Ministers and we can go to a stage two, where we can examine anything in depth we are worried about.
"Steps can be taken, if my memory serves me, to reapply to the Council of Ministers through our legislation to take steps on anything we think is unfair."
