KSF to feature in UK Treasury inquiry

by isleofman.com 31st October 2008
Senior officials and politicians in the United Kingdom look likely to face questions over the collapse of Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander Isle of Man.

A UK Treasury Committee has been set up to hold an independent inquiry about the Icelandic bank’s sister company in the UK.

Chancellor Alistair Darling and Bank of England governor Mervyn King will both appear to give evidence, and a campaign by depositors means questions about the Manx bank are almost certain to be asked.

The committee has been inundated with questions from the public and is sifting through the correspondence.

Depositors have until Friday to send in questions before the committee holds its first session on Monday.

The committee’s chairman, MP John McFall, has already said the Isle of Man will form part of the inquiry.
