Coastguard rescues yacht

by isleofman.com 3rd November 2008
Douglas Coastguard was called to the rescue of a yacht which broke free from its moorings on Friday night.

Just after 11.30pm, it was reported to be drifting in the heavy swell caused by the 20 knot north-easterly winds.

Harbour authorities managed to get a line on the stern of the vessel and a Coastguard Officer jumped onto the yacht to make sure there was no-one on board.

Just under three hours later it was brought alongside the Fort Anne slipway, but is understood to have suffered considerable damage.
