Homeless charity needs more volunteers

by isleofman.com 3rd November 2008

The charity Kemmyrk has had to postpone the opening of its shelter for the homeless in Douglas.

Kingswood House in Harris Terrace was due to open this evening, but the ceremony has been delayed for operational reasons until November 18.

The facility will provide overnight accommodation for up to eight men, aged 18 to 25, but the charity needs more males to come forward as overnight volunteers.

It’s being stressed volunteers won’t be on duty all night, they will be able to sleep and will have their own lockable room. They can also bring a partner with them if they wish.
