A United Kingdom expert on Victorian piers has told an audience in Douglas the Island must learn from mistakes made elsewhere, if Ramsey's Queen's Pier is to be saved.
President of the National Piers Society Professor Gavin Henderson delivered a lecture entitled "Piers of the realm - and some beyond" at the Manx Museum.
He chose an example on the south coast of England to demonstrate what can happen if those in positions of responsibilty continually put off making decisions (audio file attached):
