Silver success for Gerrard

by isleofman.com 4th November 2008
Manx Sports Aid recipient Keith Gerrard enjoyed silver medal success with Newham and Essex Beagles at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield, on Saturday.

The four man Newham team, who were aiming to improve upon their fifth place at last year’s National Cross Country Relay, lined up with 151 other teams to compete for the 2008 championship.

Gerrard was recently the fastest member of the bronze medal “Beagles” team at the National Road Relay Championships and once again excelled after being given the anchor leg, bringing the team through from fifth to second place.

He also recorded the seventh fastest individual time of the day finishing in 14 minutes 59 seconds, reducing his personal best for the course by 20 seconds.

The event was won in 61 minutes 9 seconds by Bedford and County AC, 20 seconds ahead of Newham, with Morpeth Harriers & AC taking third spot in 61 minutes 35 seconds.
