Minister backs troubled party

A senior government figure has spoken out in support of the beleagured Liberal Vannin party, after six local authority members handed in their resignations.

Four Douglas councillors and two commissioners from elsewhere in the Island have told LibVan leader Peter Karran they can no longer support the party, citing lack of democracy and a failure to create alternative policies.

DTI Minister David Cretney (pictured) is a member of the Manx Labour Party and counts himself a staunch believer in party politics.

He says having an opposition party has been a good thing for politics in the Island:
