The TT is set for a big publicity boost thanks to a top US film maker, who's described the event as the "last great romantic race on earth".

New York director and avid motorcycle enthusiast Ben Younger (pictured) has recently completed a script for a film set on the Island during the festival fortnight.

Speaking about his decision Younger said "I chose the Isle of Man for the setting of the film because of its intensity. I love MotoGP and while it may be the highest present form of racing, nothing can touch the stakes involved in the TT. If you screw up there you lose your life. Those are really compelling themes for a film. Plus, the riders aren't the Rossis of the world, they’re roofers and plumbers. They’re regular guys who have an extremely irregular side to their lives. It’s the last, great, romantic race on earth. It’s a very cinematic event."

And the director hasn't just admired the TT from afar; "I've been to the Island a few times and I've probably done about 40 laps of the course. I put a hole in my jeans there, I didn't know I was going that fast. But don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no plans to race there. My contribution will be this film."

No further details, when filming will start for example, have been released yet.
