Heroin mule - details of case

As another drugs courier starts a lengthy prison sentence, police in the Isle of Man are highlighting some of the base realities of drug smuggling and usage.

Thomas McKendrick was jailed for eight years for attempting to import over ?20,000 worth of heroin into the Isle of Man, inside his body.

Detective Sergeant Allan Thompson told Howard Caine it was a substantial amount of the drug and he was constantly amazed by the methods employed by couriers, and the risks taken by end users (extended audio file):
