Coal fund appeals for support

by isleofman.com 7th November 2008
A charity set up in the Isle of Man more than 100 years ago to help people heat their homes is appealing for donations.

The Douglas Coal Fund was established in the 1800s and gives out vouchers to help those in need to keep warm.

The charity helps the elderly and people on income support and disability living allowance, but is entirely dependant on donations.

Chairman Jacqui Shimmin (pictured) told Manx Radio about the effort involved in attracting support (audio file attached):

Organisations or individuals who would like to help can contact Jacqui Shimmin on 622844.

You can hear more of that interview on Mandate, from 7.30 this morning.
