DoT member defends young drivers

by isleofman.com 7th November 2008
Young motorists in the Isle of Man are getting too much bad press, according to Department of Transport political member Tim Crookall.

He says young drivers are seen by the public as a hazard on the roads, but maintains that isn't the whole story.

Mr Crookall's comments come as the DoT prepares to bring its 'Young Drivers 2008' initiative to a close this evening.

The aim has been to introduce 16 to 25 year-olds to a range of driving skills in a bid to reduce the number of accidents on the Island's roads.

But Mr Crookall says it's important to remember young people and cars aren't necessarily a dangerous combination (audio file attached):

You can hear more of that interview on Mandate, from 7.30 this morning.
