The Isle of Man is today remembering those who have served their country and lost their lives doing so.

Many services have been held to mark Remembrance Sunday, and the Island came to a standstill for the two-minute silence at 11am.

There was added poignancy, with 2008 marking the 90th anniversary of the end of World War I.

The service at Kirk Michael Parish Church was attended by the Lieutenant Governor, Vice Admiral Sir Paul Haddacks and Lady Haddacks, among others.

The service at St Thomas' Church in Douglas was followed by proceedings at the War Memorial on the promenade.

The National Act of Remembrance will take place at St John's at 3pm. The service, arranged by the Royal British Legion, will also be taken by the Venerable Brian Smith.
