Help needed to tidy neglected buildings

Help could be at hand for local authorities in the Isle of Man who have been frustrated for years over the lack of legislation to force property owners to tidy up neglected buildings.

At one of their regular sessions with Douglas MHKs this afternoon, members of the Town Council will ask for assistance in finding a solution to a long-running problem.

One way forward could be to include parts of the United Kingdom's Town and Country Planning Act in Manx law.

A Council report on the idea will be discussed at today's meeting, and Councillor Ritchie McNicholl (pictured) is keen to give it a go:
