Demand for plots exceeds expectations

There has been overwhelming interest in a new allotment scheme at the Braaid.

On Saturday, National Farmers Union president Howard Quayle held a public meeting to gauge demand for plots.

Mr Quayle (pictured) wants to give over one of his fields to those who would like somewhere to grow their own food, and hopes to go ahead with the project shortly.

He is extremely surprised by how many people would like to take him up on his offer:
