Haulage companies who in future will need a licence to operate, say smaller firms could be forced out of business.
The Department of Transport wants to introduce a new HGV Operator Licence for goods vehicles weighing over three-and-a-half tons.
A consultation will be launched at a public meeting at the Villa Marina in Douglas tonight (Tuesday).
There’ll be further meetings tomorrow in Castletown Civic Centre at 10am and Ramsey Town Hall at 4pm.
There's concern among smaller firms about the time and cost involved in meeting new regulations.
The DoT says the measures will make the roads safer, by improving standards of maintenance.
