Difficult times for cabbies

by isleofman.com 12th November 2008
Soaring fuel prices are having a major impact on taxi drivers in the Isle of Man.

Secretary of the Island's Taxi Federation Mike Cullaghan says drivers are finding it difficult to cover their costs.

On Talking Heads today he also said he was against deregulating the trade, because of the lack of demand for the extra licences which could be applied for.

Mr Cullaghan said the latest study suggested there were enough taxis already (audio file attached):

Tynwald is due to conclude a debate on deregulating the local taxi trade at next month's sitting.
