The Isle of Man's relationship with the United Kingdom will be top of the agenda at today's meeting between Chief Minister Tony Brown and Lord Chancellor Jack Straw.
The meeting was arranged last week, after UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling warned his government was going to take "a long hard look" at the Island's status as a tax haven.
Mr Brown said immediately the comment needed to be clarified to ensure relations between the Isle of Man and the UK remained mutually positive and productive.
Mr Darling made the remark while giving evidence to a UK Treasury Select Committee on the collapse of the Icelandic bank Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander.
Yesterday, President of Tynwald Noel Cringle and Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan led a Manx delegation to Westminster which held a series of meetings to promote a wider understanding of the Island's constitutional relationship with the United Kingdom.
The Lord Chancellor is head of the United Kingdom government's Department for Constitutional Affairs, which is responsible for the Crown Dependencies, including the Isle of Man.
