Island's growing reputation

Tourism Minister Martyn Quayle says the Isle of Man's reputation as a conference centre is growing.

New figures from the Department of Tourism and Leisure show 20 conferences were held in the Island last year, a 20 per cent rise on 2007.

Mr Quayle (pictured) says the DTL has spent a total of ?200,000 marketing the Isle of Man as a conference destination and he estimates delegates have spent nearly ?5 million here.

He says the Island has ideal facilities and is attracting more and more business:
