Orrel Anvils put Douglas under hammer

by isleofman.com 16th November 2008
Visitors Orrell Anvils were just too strong for a plucky Douglas side in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two, eventually running out 39-8 winners.

Full-back Mark Hewlett put Orrell ahead early on and, after a Bryn Snellgrove penalty closed the gap for Douglas, Orrell accelerated away.

Max Huxley and Steve Ormesher both crossed before half-time and when Geoff Gavin added a conversion, the Anvils were 17-3 in front at the break.

Neil Liptrot, Gary Nicholson, Ormesher and Johnny Pegg all added second half tries for Orrell as they ran away with the game, before Johnny Ledwidge bagged a consolation try for the home side.
