The chairman of the Steam Packet Select Committee is convinced its findings will lead to changes which will benefit the Manx public.
Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan saw the eight recommendations of his committee's report approved by Tynwald yesterday.
The company was found to have complied with its User Agreement but a number of issues were raised, including freight charges.
Mr Rodan (pictured) feels they must be examined.
On Talking Heads today he said:
"What we are saying is that the Department of Transport, through a stengthened Steam Packet Liaison Committee, chaired not by an officer but by a political member, will have the responsibility to look more carefully at this.
"It will really see if there are any inconsistencies, or opportunities to bring freight (charges) down.
"We believed, and our conclusion was that, freights costs to the public could be considerably reduced without any detrimental effect to profit."
