No Railway Cup Final on Boxing Day

by isleofman.com 21st November 2008
It's been confirmed the Railway Cup Final will not be played on it's traditional Boxing Day slot.

The current fixture pile-up caused by several weekends of bad weather means the halfway stage of the season can't be reached by the scheduled semi-final date of the 6th December.

The top four at the midway point in the fixtures qualify to contest the trophy.

However, Football fans will have action to view as it is intended to play the first of the semi-finals on Boxing Day with the second tie taking place the next day - Saturday 27th December.

Currently, no date for the final has been set.

The Isle of Man Football Association will be hoping for several weeks of good weather as any further postponements will result in another delay.

Leaders Peel and St. George's are near to completing their first half fixtures, but St. Mary's and Rushen will need to play on every available weekend to finish their programmes before the festive period.
