The body which oversees the distribution of excise duty from United Kingdom Lottery ticket sales in the Isle of Man is going to benefit from extra capital.
The Manx Lottery Trust is hoping the extra ?270,000 over five years will help extend the scope of projects it can assist.
Another development will be the appointment of a grants officer in the next few months.
Chair of the MLT Neil Bryden says it's a big responsibility to make sure the money is spent wisely.
He told Manx Radio:
"We want to make sure that where we spend those funds is value for money, sustainable and has an impact on the community.
"It's our job to make sure we don't just take the funds initially and spend them without due care and attention.
"Hence the research project, and making sure we have got guidelines and procedures in place that fit in with big lottery requirements and meet the needs of the community."
